Niger Food and Security Systems and Logistics limited also known as Niger Foods, a State owned private enterprise championing the Agricultural revolution of the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has organised a training on the effective use of farming equipment to boost Agricultural mechanisation in the State.
The training, which is a week long, is holding in Minna and has 150 participants drawn from across all the 25 local governments areas of the State.
Dr Eric Alawo, the General Manager Agric Food for Origin Technology and Head of the trainers, explained that the training was aimed at acquainting the operators of the farming equipment with knowledge on how it is used for optimal output.
He described the Agricultural policy of the farmer Governor as a game changer in the Agric industry, pointing out that mechanisation is the way to go.
Dr Alawo who called on the participants to productively utilise what they have learned, expressed optimism that the future of Niger Foods is bright.
The Personal Assistant to the Chairman of Niger Food, Abdulhakim Oluwaseun who highlighted methods used to select participants said some of them have experience on the operation of the equipment with John Deere and other reputable companies, while others are tractor operators that have retired from the Civil Service.
He disclosed that the participants were selected and integrated into the Niger Foods.
Some participants interviewed, lauded the initiative and expressed delight with the opportunity given to them by the State government.
They all promised to make judicious use of it, while calling on the residents of Niger State, especially youth, to key into the Agricultural policy of farmer Governor Umaru Bago.
