The Ministry of Women Affairs (MWA) is dedicated to promoting the rights, welfare, and empowerment of women in the State, developing and implementing policies, programs, and projects that uplift women, enhance gender equality, and create an enabling environment for women to thrive.

Facilitate Women’s Empowerment and Inclusion
Implement strategic policies and targeted programs to promote gender equality, eliminate gender-based discrimination, and enhance an enabling environment for women’s active participation.
Safeguard and Advance Children’s Rights
Prioritize the well-being of the girl-child by formulating comprehensive policies to ensure quality education, accessible healthcare, and protection from abuse, exploitation, and violence.
Support for Vulnerable Groups
Address the unique needs of vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities, the elderly, widows, orphans, and destitute individuals by formulating inclusive policies.
Collaboration and Advocacy
Engage with civil society organizations, development partners, media, and religious leaders to sensitize and raise awareness on gender equality and social justice.
Active Participation in Policy Formulation
Contribute to the development of gender-responsive policies and advocate for comprehensive strategies that empower women and promote equitable opportunities.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Conduct meticulous assessments of gender mainstreaming efforts and social development initiatives to identify areas for improvement.
