Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago has reiterated his administration’s resolve to improve the facilities in public schools.
Governor Umaru Bago stated this at the 22nd Graduation, speech and prize-giving ceremony of El-Amin International School Abuja, where his last Son, Marwan Mohammed Bago who also doubles as the Head Boy of the School was graduating.
The Governor who was a special Guest of Honour at the event, expressed delight with the facilities in the school and assured that efforts will be made to step up public schools to boost teaching and learning as well as restore the lost glory of public schools.
“The ambience of the school is very inspiring so we will make sure that our public schools step up to this. We will provide the necessary facilities and also make sure that we have enough teachers so that our children can come proudly the way we had because we went to local educational schools and LEAs and today we are where we are so it means that the son of nobody can be something tomorrow”, he said.
He emphasized that his administration will also sustain the free basic education policy in the state especially that of girl children.
Governor Umaru Bago appreciated the teachers for their commitment to imparting knowledge to the pupils and encouraged them not to relent as their roles are critical towards achieving their dreams in life.
He applauded the founder of the School late Hajiya Maryam Babangida for her insight in establishing the school which has been contributing to the educational needs of children in society.
Governor Umaru Bago announced that his foundation, established and headed by his wife Hajiya Fatima Bago will collaborate with the school for scholarships at all levels.
The Governor congratulated his Son Marwan and other graduands for completing this phase of their academic pursuits and wished them more success.
“We are so excited as parents as we’ve always been we have two that have passed through the school and they are doing very well, they have been tutored very well and we are grateful”
The Head Boy of the School, Marwan Mohammed Bago in an interview expressed his appreciation to his parents, school management, teachers and all those who contributed to his present level of education.
He said, “To the pupils, we are going to be leaving behind they should work hard and do everything correctly. To my fellow graduands, let’s continue to move forward, we still have a long way to go.
” I want us to keep moving. I want to be myself and I want to be a Governor like my father”.
