Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has commended the Comptroller General, Nigerian Immigration Service, Mohammed Babandede for repositioning the Service in line with international best practices and for national interest.
Governor Sani Bello stated this when he had an audience with the Comptroller General at the Nigeria Immigration Service, Headquarters in Abuja.
The Governor said in less than two years the Comptroller General has taken steps that placed Nigerian Immigration Service both in the eyes of Nigerians and International community, as an institution poise to deliver fast, efficient, transparent and people –friendly service to all.
“ Let me commend your effort in repositioning Nigerian Immigration Service in line with global best practices and for national interest. Your effort in building a responsive Service through introduction of key policies such as the ‘Immigration regulation 2017’, Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, (PBEC) and e-documentation and unified identity card for officers and men, is a welcome development.”
Governor Sani Bello who said that the new direction taken by Babandede would keep the nation’s borders safe from trans-border criminals and suspected terrorists elements, also acknowledged effort of CGI in improved welfare and capacity building for NIS personnel.
Governor Sani Bello then urged the Comptroller General to continue to partner with all security agencies and other strategic stakeholders both in Nigeria and across the globe.
“As you take steps to reposition NIS, I urge you to continue to synergize with other security agencies and strategic stakeholders. Inter-agency cooperation is very essential . Hence , the need for joint operations and information sharing.”
In his response, the Comptroller General, Nigerian Immigration Service, Mohammed Babandede thanked Governor Sani Bello for the visit and promised to continue with reforms for better service delivery to Nigerians and international community.
