Niger State Government has signed an agreement with Dar Al Handasah on consultancy services for the master plan of the Minna Airport Agro-processing free zone.
The agreement was signed at the Niger State liaison office, Abuja.
Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Abubakar Usman signed on behalf of the State government while the Resident Manager of the company, Mohammad Itani signed for the consultancy firm.
Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, expresses delight with the agreement explaining that the State government in its search for competent company discovered that Dar Al Handasah is a leading consultancy firm in terms of design and planning of mega modern cities.
He said the State government also desires to have a master plan for Minna town as well as Bida and Kontagora to maximise the economic potential around the ring roads being constructed.
The farmer Governor said he is confident that the agreement will be a success to the benefit of the State and its people.
Speaking to journalists in an interview, the Resident Manager, Mohammed Itani disclosed that a feasibility study for the Master plan will last four months, after which a master plan will be done in terms of land allocation and postulation for green houses and how the Agro Industry will work among other things.
Itani acknowledged that Niger State is rich in Agriculture, and it will act as a hub for food both Nationally and internationally.
He observes that the project would provide strategy on implementation and explore economic viability of the State, thereby unlocking other potentials.
The Resident Manager said he is optimistic that the master plan, when completed, would lead to the actualisation of the Agro industry where flight will transport products out of the State.
He said the Company has track records of executing standard projects and has been in Nigeria since 1970 and assured the government and people of the State that the firm will meet up with all expectations
Also speaking, the Chairman, Niger Foods, Mr. Sammy Adigun said that the project is a huge one, as it will be on 3,000 hectares of land.
He said the project when completed would see the State exporting food and other products to other nations of the world which would provide immense socio-economic benefit for the people.
