FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO PARTICIPATES IN THE OPENING SESSION OF UNGA79 AND SIDE-EVENT WITH GLOBAL STAKEHOLDERS ON SDGs

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago was among stakeholders from across the globe that took part at the opening of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) ongoing in New York, United States of America (USA).

The farmer Governor was also involved in a side-event with his Counterparts under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) as well as other global stakeholders to prioritise and fine-tune the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially as it enters the second half of its 2030 agenda across the world.

During the side-event, stakeholders including the Farmer Governor, accessed the progress made so far on the SDGs, and recommendations were also made to successfully attain all the goals of the SDGs, especially Goals 1,2,3 and 11 at all levels.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago used the forum to reveal progress made in Niger State in terms of infrastructure and Agriculture among others to the realisation of some of the SDGs.

He also emphasized the need for all stakeholders to do more in health, poverty reduction, urban and rural development.

The farmer Governor opined that the desired result would be achieved if global stakeholders would mobilise resources, effectively implement SDGs policies and engage communities.

He also disclosed the determination of the Niger State Government to continue to invest heavily in agriculture towards the attainment of the SDGs.
