Governor of Niger State, Farmer Umaru Bago Launches Retiree Medical Insurance Package Under NiCare

His Excellency, Farmer Governor Umaru Bago, on October 15, 2024, officially launched the Retiree Medical Insurance Package (RMIP), a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide essential support to retirees and senior citizens in Niger State. This launch represents a significant improvement in the state’s healthcare efforts, marking a strong commitment to the well-being of its aging population.

The RMIP is designed to eliminate financial barriers to healthcare, enabling retirees and senior citizens to access vital medical services at no cost. This comprehensive package covers treatments, medications, and consultations within an extensive network of healthcare providers.

During the launch, Mallam Sulayman Abu-Bakr MPH, Executive Secretary of the Niger State Contributory Health Agency, reaffirmed the administration’s vision for an inclusive healthcare system, stating, “We are not only safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our retirees but also setting a standard for the kind of leadership and social responsibility that all citizens of Niger State can be proud of.”

In his address, Abu-Bakr highlighted the invaluable contributions of elders to the development of Niger State, emphasizing, “Our elders have spent a lifetime building this state, contributing to its growth, and shaping the communities we live in today.” He characterized the RMIP as a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, ensuring that retirees can enjoy their later years with dignity and access to essential healthcare services.
