Mallam Mohammed Babba hails from a suburb of Katsina called YANTUMAKI. Like his fellow his follow Fulani alai,’ Jihadlsts, Mallam Babba received the flag from Shehtf Usman Dan Fodor during the Islamic reformist movemant of the 16th centujy. Before moving to Agate area. at about 182744,111pm Babba had stayed with Mallam Dendo and Mallam Alum at Raba and together joined forces to defeat Etsu Majia.

Upon receipt of the flag, Mallam Babba began preparations for the establishment of a Fulani dynasty I, in Agaie. This, he commenced by appointing his own  son, Mallam Abdullahi as the head of the new political dispensation in Agaie. Thus, Mallam Abdullahi Muhammadu became the first Emir of Agaie and reigned from 1832 to 1857. He was succeeded by his younger brother, Suleiman, who died in 1860.

Conequently, Agaie now has two ruling houses. That is to say, the house of Abdullahi and that of Suleiman. The third Emir of Agaie was appointed in 1860 and died in 1900. The forth emir was Abubakar the first who was appointed in 1900 and died 1919.

Abubakar II reigned from 1919 to 1935. The seventh emir of Agaie was Alhaji Aliyu who reigned between 1035 and 1953. Alhaji Muhammadu Bello succeeded Etsu Aliyu as the eigth emir of Agaie in 1953. After his demise in 1989, the son of Etsu Aliyu, Alhaji Muhammadu Attahiru was installed as the ninth Emir of Agaie.

Agaie witnessed a short period of interregnum upon the death of Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu because of the pending case relating to the assassination of the Chairman of Agaie local Government Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Tsadu. For that period, Agaie was ruled by the Emirate Councillors under the Chairmanship of the Waziri. In March, 2000, Alhaji Attahiru was re-instated its the 11th Emir of Agaie. With the death of Alhaji Muhammad Attahiru on Sunday 25th April, 2004, Alhaji Muhammadu Kudu Abubakar III was appointed the 12th Emir of Agaie on 30th April, 2004.
