ACTING GOVERNOR COMRADE YAKUBU GARBA VISITS BARKUTA COMMUNITY IN BEJI OVER CLASH, SUES FOR PEACE

The Acting Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has sued for peace between the Gbagyi and Fulani people living in Barkuta Community in Beji under Bosso local government area of the State.

Comrade Garba was at the Community following the communal clash between the two ethnic groups.

The Acting Governor had a meeting with the community leaders including representatives from both parties, Commissioner of Police, Commissioners for Homeland Security, Agriculture, and Nomadic as well as the Chairperson of Bosso local government among other critical stakeholders.

He expressed sadness over the incident, which he described as unfortunate.

Comrade Garba stressed the need for peaceful and harmonious co-existence among various ethnic groups, explaining that the State government will take every necessary measures to address the issue.

The Acting Governor also carried on the spot assessment to have first-hand knowledge of the extent of destruction .

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the death and quick recovery to the injured.

Recall that a farmer/herder clash recently broke out between the Gbagyi and Fulani people of Barkuta, Beji ward of Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State and escalated to communal crisis leading to the loss of lives and property.
