FOOD SECURITY: NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS PACT WITH ITS LAGOS STATE COUNTERPART ON AGRICULTURE
Niger State Government and its Lagos State Counterpart have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the Produce-For-Lagos initiative.
The Mou which was signed in Lagos, will provide farmers in Niger State a ready market to off-take their agricultural produce to meet the food demand of Lagos residents with an assured availability and stabilised price.
Agricultural produce under the agreement cut across paddy rice, tubers, legumes, and grains.
It is a long-term strategic partnership between both States that would create a ready supply of farm produce directly from the ongoing massive Lagos Food logistics hub in Ketu Ereyun, Epe.
Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago signed on behalf of the Niger State government while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu signed for the Lagos State government.
This move further demonstrates the determination of Farmer Governor Umaru Bago to ensure that the food security policy of his administration and that of the Federal government is realized.
The Farmer Governor reiterated that Niger State has all it takes to feed the Nation and even export to other nations hence, he is not relenting in attaining the goal, noting that the State is ready to partner with more States as part of efforts to boost national policy on food security .
