81-Gun Salute to GEN. ABDULSALAMI ALHAJI ABUBAKAR, GCFR
On behalf of the government and people of Niger state, I wish to join legions of other well-wishers from far and near in felicitating with our father and highly revered international elder statesman, General Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar, GCFR, Nigeria’s former Head of State, as he marks his 81st birthday.
Sir, there are no doubts about your sterling qualities as a military officer-gentleman, a focused leader, who has become a reference point and case study for those genuinely seeking to move Nigeria forward in the right direction. Indeed, you are a rallying point of national unity, as you have remained consistent in charting and promoting national cohesion and integration. On the international scene, you have been an enviable catalyst for global peace, long after you gloriously handed over power to a democratically elected president in 1999.
Your patriotic zeal for the common good, a peaceful and egalitarian society is a testimony to your genuineness of purpose in whatever destiny has brought upon you. As a State, we remain proud of your achievements and remarkable contributions to national development. We are sincerely happy to be associated with your legacies in community and national service.
