Niger State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to providing all the needed support to development partners for the overall development of the State.
Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this when he received the World Bank Team led by the Regional Director, West and Central Africa, World Bank, Mr. Chakib Jenane on a courtesy visit at the Government House Minna.
The team is in Niger State on an assessment tour of 3 of its ongoing projects in Niger State namely the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), the Nigeria for Women Project (NWP) and the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).
The Farmer Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Abubakar Usman appreciated the World Bank for its continued efforts in improving the lives of the citizenry through intervention projects.
He said the State Government is always ready to provide the needed support in achieving set objectives.
The farmer Governor also stressed that the State Government will not relent in ensuring that it provides an enabling and conducive environment for the smooth running of its activities in the State.
While appreciating the World Bank for the three key projects being executed in the State, Farmer Governor Umaru Bago restated the State Government’s willingness for continued partnership and assured that funds provided to the State would always be judiciously used.
Team leader and Regional Director, West and Central Africa, World Bank, Mr. Chakib Jenane appreciated the State Government for the support in achieving set objectives of the World Bank Programmes in Niger State.
He said, there is already an impressive and positive impact of the projects in Niger State which covers many aspects including the preservation of the environment, agro climatic resilience project and diversifying the economy through supporting the livestock sector.
Mr. Jenane disclosed that the introduction of the Nigeria for Women project is in recognition of the important roles played by women in economic development.
He expressed his delight with the success stories of the World Bank projects in Niger State and promised that the State government should count on them for more support going forward.
The State Coordinators of ACReSAL, NWP L-PRES in their separate power points presentations highlighted the achievements made so far and challenges being faced in the implementation of their projects.
The Regional Director thereafter interacted with beneficiaries of the three World Bank projects at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, where some equipment presented to beneficiaries were displayed.
