NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO SPEND N3B ACROSS THE 274 WARDS IN THE STATE ON PALLIATIVES
Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago has disclosed that the State Government is to spend N3b on palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.
Governor Umaru Bago disclosed this at the closing of a two day retreat organised for Commissioners, members of the State House of Assembly, Special Advisers, Local Government council Chairmen and Heads of MDAs held in Suleja.
He explained that each ward in Chanchaga, Bida, Suleja and Kontagora local government areas are to receive N20m, while the remaining words in 21 local government areas are to get N10m each.
The money according to the Governor, is to be used in purchasing food items at Ward level for onward distribution to the people at the grassroot.
He said a Committee will be set up in that regards for immediate implementation.
Speaking on the retreat, the Governor charged participants to be proactive in revenue generation adding that, revenue is what the State needs to drive its developmental plans .
Governor Umaru Bago observed that no lofty idea will be meaningful without available funds hence, every stakeholder in governance must be aggressive and intentional about revenue generation so as to meet the demands of the citizens.
The Board Chairman, Niger State Internal Revenue Sevice, Mohammed Madami Etsu at the event appreciated the Governor for his foresight and assured him that the Revenue service will work assiduously to help in achieving set targets.
