Our Mandate
Develop Constitutional Framework for Good Governance
Develop and implement a robust constitutional framework that upholds the principles of good governance for the operations of local governments in Niger State.
Financial and Administrative Oversight
Supervise and monitor the financial and administrative affairs of the 25 local government councils within Niger State, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines and budgetary directives.
Funds Distribution and Utilization Coordination
Coordinate and facilitate the judicious distribution and utilization of funds allocated from the federation account, state government, and other sources to the local government councils.
Community Development and Empowerment
Champion the promotion and support of community development and empowerment initiatives across Niger State through collaboration with local government councils and traditional leaders.
Local Government Staff Management
Oversee and regulate the appointment, promotion, discipline, and welfare of local government staff in Niger State, adhering to established civil service rules and regulations.
Chieftaincy Affairs Administration
Manage and administer chieftaincy affairs within Niger State, encompassing the recognition, installation, removal, and succession of traditional rulers and resolving chieftaincy disputes.
Fostering Relations for Development
Cultivate harmonious relations between the state government and local government councils, and between local government councils and traditional institutions, to enhance peace and holistic development.
