ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY: NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT DONATES FOOD AND DRUGS TO INMATES IN CORRECTIONAL CENTRES AND REMAND HOME IN MINNA ***SAYS PLANS ARE ON FOR CLEMENCY OF 50 INMATES
Niger State Government has donated food items and drugs to inmates at the Medium Security Correctional Centres in Minna.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Abubakar Usman led some of the Committee members for the one-year anniversary of the present administration to the New and Old Correctional Centres in Minna.
The SSG explained that the visit was part of
activities marking the one-year anniversary of the farmer Governor Umaru Bago-led administration.
He disclosed that efforts are on to ensure clemency for about 50 convicted inmates in the two centres.
The SSG disclosed that after the clemency, the released inmates would be engaged in the Agricultural programme of the State government to make them useful to themselves and the society.
The Committee members were also at the Government remand Home where the Committee interacted with the inmates and assured them that the State Government will review their cases and those reformed, would be released.
Food items and drugs were also presented at the Remand Home.
