Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has received an award as the “People’s Choice of the Year 2023”.
The award was presented by the Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN) projects at the Niger State Liaison Office, Abuja.
The Farmer Governor appreciated the organization for finding him worthy of the award.
He dedicated the award to the people of Niger State, for their love, affection, support and trust to have voted for him to govern the State.
The Farmer Governor described the leader as innovative and a good example of what a youth should be.
He recalled pleasant encounters he had with the President of the FDN Projects, Alexandra Olufunsho Ajagbonna when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
The Farmer Governor encouraged him to continue with his good work adding that the State Government through the State-owned media houses, would partner with the association for mutual benefits.
The President of the FDN projects, Alexandra Olufunsho Ajagbonna, explained that the organization adopted a people-oriented approach for the award, followed a thorough and transparent screening process and the Governor came top in his category.
He said the award ceremony was done late last year during the 11th edition of its Democracy Heroes Award Africa which the Farmer Governor was unavoidably absent.
Olufunsho Ajagbonna said the organization is a platform that is committed to identifying and celebrating outstanding personalities who are true leaders.
He said that the Farmer Governor has through his transformational leadership style, aligned himself with the essence of the organization which has earned him an award as the People’s Choice of the Year 2023.
The organization had a brief interview with the Farmer Governor on his Agriculture and Education policies for the State, where he restated his administration’s commitment to achieving food security and a sustainable economy for the State through Agriculture as well as making the State an educational hub through the establishment of many institutions of learning that would carter for the educational needs of the people.
