UNGA79: FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO JOINS HIS COUNTERPARTS UNDER THE BANNER OF THE NGF TO MEET WITH OFFICIALS OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FOR MORE DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago was among his counterparts under the banner of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) that participated in a meeting with the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) during a side-event, at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York, USA.

The meeting deliberated on how to improve Health, education, and ensure gender equity, Climate Action as well as Resilience city projects using digital technology for optimal outcomes.

During the meeting, issues around human capital development, mainstreaming the SDGs into sub-national, medium and long-term plans as well as budgeting process using technology and data to improve the availability and prioritisation of resources for sustainable development were also discussed.

The farmer Governor was also part of another NGF meeting with the Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Ahunna Eziakonwa, which dwelt on how the organisation can step up its support by promoting development and inclusive governance to address insecurity.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago used the opportunity to stress the need for economic development through Public-Private sector investments across various sectors of the economy, while also advocating the establishment of technology innovation hubs and technical assistance programmes in Nigerian States for a more efficient and effective results.

The meetings marked the end of the Farmer Governor’s engagements at the UNGA79.
