FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO RECEIVES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT LETTER FROM NUC ON RENAMING OF NIGER STATE UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION MINNA
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has received an acknowledgement letter from the National Universities Commission NUC.
The letter which was addressed to the Farmer Governor, was received by the Pro-Chancellor, of the University, Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya on his behalf in Minna.
According to the letter, the Commission acknowledged the receipt of a notification letter from the Farmer Governor with Reference; to GHNS/S/106 dated 29th December 2023 for the renaming of the Niger State University of Education to Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna.
The letter indicated that the State House of Assembly had carried out its Legislative function on the renaming process and the Governor had also assented to it.
In the letter, the NUC said it shares in the vision of the Niger State government in renaming the Institution after the late Engineer Abdulkadir Kure, a former Governor of the State (1999-2007) in recognition of his enormous contributions, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare and infrastructural development.
The Commission pledged its continued support to the growth and development of Abdulkadir Kure University Minna and that relevant Institutions such as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) have been notified of the renaming of the state-owned University.
