GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO ESTABLISHES NIGER STATE REFUGEES COMMISSION WITH N500 MILLION NAIRA AS TAKE-OFF GRANT; TO DISTRIBUTE 13,000 BAGS OF GRAINS TO IDPS IN NIGER STATE
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced the establishment of the Niger State Refugees Commission with N500 Million for its take-off as part of his efforts to carter for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the State.
Governor Umaru Bago announced this after making symbolic presentations to some of the 700 households beneficiaries of the relief materials from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons held in Minna.
The Governor who observed with dismay the high number of IDPs in the State said the Commission would effectively address the difficulties faced by the IDPs.
He said the State Refugees Commission will operate under the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
The Governor also disclosed that the State Government will from its reserve, distribute 13,000 bags of grains to the IDPs in the state.
He assured that the State Government will continue to do its best to ameliorate the sufferings of the IDPs in the State.
