NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT ABOLISHES “GENERATE AND UTILIZE” PRACTICE BY ALL MDAS AND TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has abolished the “Generate and Utilize” practice by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)/including Tertiary Institutions.
Governor Umaru Bago disclosed this during the presentation of the 2024 budget proposal to the Members of the 10th State House of Assembly.
The Governor explained that the move was to block leakages and intensify internally generated revenue through self-sufficiency and accountability of all revenue receipts by MDAs.
He said that the mechanisms for the operation of the directive are being looked at.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago said to build a New and sustainable Niger, the 2024 Budget will focus on Urban Renewal and Rural Transformation; Security of Lives and Property; Infrastructural Development; Agriculture and Food Security; Education; Health; Water and Sanitation; Women and Children; Environmental Sustainability; and People with Special Needs and Elderly Care as priority areas.
He also said the newly approved Niger State University of Education, will be named after late Eng. Abdullahi Abdulkadir Kure, the former Governor of Niger State.
