NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO SIGN MOU WITH AFRICA’S BIGGEST RICE MILL
Niger State Government plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Niger State Development Company and Gerawa Rice Mill, Kano, the biggest in Africa.
Governor Bago who disclosed this at a Dinner organised in honour of the House of Representatives Press Corps held at the Government House, Minna, said the MoU is to ensure offtake of all rice paddy in the State.
While highlighting the enormous potential in the State that has continued to be left untapped, Governor Bago said his administration will ensure that the opportunities that abound in the State are harnessed maximally.
According to the Governor, the only way to attract carbon money is to aggregate the forests in the State and trade them to multi-national companies in exchange for the emission.
He called on the House of Representatives Press Corps to collaborate with his administration to achieve set objectives.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Press Corps, Grace Ike described Governor Umaru Bago as a man full of ideologies and a goal-getter, saying his idea of a Green Economy Summit is well thought out.
The Press Corps passed a vote of confidence on the Governor and reassured him of their continued support towards his dream of a “New Niger”.
The Press Corps equally presented him with an award of excellence in economy and security matters.
Recall that Governor Umaru Bago had earlier visited the promoter of the Gerawa Group of companies, Alh. Isah Moha.med Gerawa in Kano and also inspected Gerawa Rice Mill; the biggest Rice Mill in Africa and some other facilities of the Company for a possible collaboration.
