The Niger State Government has signed contracts worth N30.5 billion for two major projects: the transformation of Shiroro Hotel into the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital (IBBUTH), costing N18.9 billion, and the redevelopment of the three-arms zone for N11.6 billion.
The IBBUTH project will be completed by two companies, while the three-arms zone will involve five companies. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed confidence that these projects will be finished on time and will bring various benefits, including job creation, improved healthcare, and skill transfer. Additional plans include converting the old secretariat and Judiciary complex into a School of Midwifery and Health Technology.
Land plots will also be sold to fund other projects. The IBBUTH is expected to be completed in 12 months and the three-arms zone in 18 months.
Five Benefits for Nigerlites:
1. Job Creation: New employment opportunities will be generated.
2. Healthcare Improvement: A teaching hospital will improve healthcare services and reduce medical tourism.
3. Skill and Knowledge Transfer: The new facilities will serve as centers for skill development and education.
4. Efficient Governance: The three-arms zone will house the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary, streamlining operations and ease governance.
5. Economic Boost: Sale of land plots will generate revenue for other projects.
