FARMER BAGO @50: A GOD-SENT LEADER TO NIGER STATE
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has been described as God-sent to anchor a swift transformation that would bring to fruition the age-long yearnings and aspirations of the people of the State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary CPS Bologi Ibrahim, in celebration of the 50th birthday of the Farmer Governor.
He said the Farmer Governor has been bold and courageous in tackling, head-on, the intractable challenges that were impediments to the wheel of progress and development of the State.
The CPS observed that since the assumption of office by the Farmer Governor, the state has experienced a significant turningaround that confirmed his political footprints and enviable antecedents as a three-term Legislator.
He said at 50, the Farmer Governor is not only worth celebrating, but it is only appropriate to seize the occasion to extol his virtues as he has defied all the obstacles and developmental barriers that had hitherto stagnated the state to kick-start a revolution and is now bringing back the lost hope of many Nigerlites.
The CPS highlighted some of the infrastructural developmental strides taken by the Farmer Governor following his undying spirit to establish a New Niger including the conversion of Shiroro Hotel to Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital (IBBUTH), the establishment of Abdulkadir Kure University and the redevelopment of the 3-arm zone.
Others are the progressive projects, of the Minna township roads and Bida Ring Road, to improve connectivity, open up new frontiers, revitalize local businesses, boost trade and facilitate better access to education, medical services and markets
Mallam Ibrahim said the conversion of the College of Agriculture Mokwa to a University and the establishment of more tertiary institutions such as the University of Technology Zungeru and that of Health Science in Suleja are all in the offing
He said the Farmer Governor also understood the comparative economic advantage of agriculture and its value chain as well as the vast cultivable landmass of the state, he prioritized Agriculture to stimulate the economy and bring prosperity to the state.
The CPS stated that Farmer Governor Umaru Bago further demonstrated his determination to improve Agriculture in the State by purchasing and distributing farm inputs to farmers across the three geopolitical zones of the State, facilitating numerous Agriculture partnerships that would make the transition from subsistence to mechanized farming.
He said the State government has keyed into the Federal government’s food sufficiency and its security policy and has offered itself for a pilot scheme adding that the Bago-led administration also established a state-owned Private Enterprize to serve as a platform that the state government will use to facilitate all the agricultural investments and ensure that the investments thrive.
Mallam Ibrahim said the Farmer Governor has equally given attention to other sectors that are necessary for providing holistic and sustainable development to the state and its people.
He maintained that the passionate and dogged Farmer Governor is capable of changing the narrative of this state and making it a laudable model for human development which would unarguably leave an indelible imprint in the sand of times.
