Governor Umaru Bago met with top agricultural companies, including those making farming machines in Czech Republic
Governor Umaru Bago’s journey to the Czech Republic brought two major benefits to Niger State, mainly in agriculture, which is the state’s stronghold
The governor met with top agricultural companies, including those making farming machines.
He also toured the Knights a.s/Agroservis Salek manufacturing plant for tractors in Prostejov in the Czech Republic—the CEO and Board Chairman for Knights a.s., Dr. Karl Laryea (Ph.D.), led the team to inspect the manufacturing processes for the European standard tractor for the African Market.
They inspected a 50hp tractor specially designed for rice farming with various accessories such as plows, rice threshers, three-disc plows, rotavators, and three side tipping trailers.
1. An agreement was signed between the Niger State Government and Knights a.s. of the Czech Republic, on the supply of 1,000 tractors and accessories, including spare parts. The agreement also includes setting up an assembly plant in the multi-facility industrial park. These tractors would be deployed in Niger State for the government’s agricultural drive to improve farming practices and increase the yield of small and medium-scale farmers in Niger State.
2. An agreement was also signed for conducting a feasibility study to invest in a light railway between Minna and Abuja.
Governor Bago’s goal is clear: to completely rejuvenate agriculture in Niger State and maximize its potential.
