Niger State Government has handed over the Shiroro Hotel to contractors that will handle its conversion to Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital (IBBUTH), in Minna.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health, Dr Bello Tukur who handed over the site on behalf of the state government, explained that it is the beginning of the “New Niger” agenda of the Bago-led administration.
He said the project when completed will provide standardized medical Healthcare services and reduced medical tourism.
One of the Contractors, Ibrahim Ibrahim assured the State Government of timely completion of the project and in line with the contract specifications.
Representatives from the Ministries of Tourism, Works, Culture, Planning Commission, as well as Niger State Urban Development Board were among those present during the handing over.
Similarly, the State Government has handed over the three-arms zone to all the contractors that will carry out the remodelling project at the site.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Renewal, Habiba Ahmed, performed the task on behalf of the State government and all requirements have been completed.
The Lead Consultant, Baba Aliyu reassured the State Government that the project would be carried out professionally and that no contractor would go contrary to specifications.
The State Government had signed the contract agreements for the conversion of Shiroro Hotel to IBBUTH and remodelling of the three-arms zone last week at the cost of N18.9 billion, and N11.6 billion respectively.
While the IBBUTH project is expected to be completed in 12 months, the three-arms zone will be executed in 18 months.
