Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has reiterated his commitment to a clean and renewable energy through green economy.
The Farmer Governor reaffirmed this when he presented a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to NNPC Retail Ltd for the establishment of 50 micro filling plants and CNG Truck Parks across the State.
The farmer Governor who made the presentation at his Official Residence, Government House Minna, described the event as historic, adding that the provision of filling plants by NNPC and the transitioning from fossil fuel to the use of clean and affordable energy is a welcome development.
He said the collaboration will further address the cases of tree felling in the State, which would also assist in checkmating deforestation.
On the proposed establishment of Truck Parks in the State by the NNPC, farmer Governor Umaru Bago advocated synergy between the NNPC and the Niger State Government so that the activities would be streamlined for effective service delivery and to avoid duplication of projects as the State has plans to invest in trailer parks.
The Senior Officer, LPG Micro distribution, NNPC Ltd, Alh. Muhammad Baba, during his presentation said the LPG Micro filling plants which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, is part of the Federal Government’s agenda for Nigerians to access affordable gas, especially in remote areas.
He disclosed that Niger State, is among the States to benefit in the pilot scheme, with 50 units of the filling plants out of the 3000 slated to be established nationwide and that the NNPC would ensure that liquified petroleum gas
remains a clean cooking alternative.
Alh. Baba said the project is a prototype and when it is fully in place, the State Government is expected to invest in it and empower people by providing NNPC with assigned dealers for gas supply.
